Eve Pryde-Roberts, author of A Pride of Prydes has spent several years researching Prydes, including DNA matches as they have become more available. Y-DNA studies have confirmed that James Pride (and Helen Selkirk) from Prestonpans in East Lothian were the ancestors of the Lothian Prydes and Prides.

But do the Prydes of the Lothians and the Prydes of Fife share a common male-line ancestor?
As Ancestry no longer offers Y-DNA testing Eve has worked with Dr Iain G. Old of Vecchio DNA to set up a new Pryde and Pride Y-DNA group at FamilyTreeDNA.
The initial results from this project suggest that the Lothian and Fife Prydes do indeed share a common ancestor who may have been born some 620 years ago, around 1404 CE.
